Detroit, United States · since 2000 — Techno and house showcase rooted in Detroit's originator culture; began as the free Detroit Electronic Music Festival at Hart Plaza, with deep house/Detroit-soul programming alongside techno.

Launched in 2000 as the free Detroit Electronic Music Festival, curated by Carl Craig and Carol Marvin's Pop Culture Media at Hart Plaza. Derrick May took over organizing in 2003 and renamed it Movement; it later became the ticketed Memorial Day weekend fixture.

Sónar

Barcelona, Spain · since 1994 — Advanced music and new-media festival; its day (Sónar by Day) and night (Sónar by Night) stages are a major global platform for house, techno and electronic music.

Founded in 1994 by Ricard Robles, Enric Palau and Sergio Caballero as the Sónar Festival of Advanced Music and Multimedia Art. It spans daytime industry/showcase programming and large nighttime electronic stages, and has spawned satellite Sónar editions worldwide.

Southport Weekender

Southport / Minehead, United Kingdom · since 1987 — The UK's flagship soulful and deep house weekender; eclectic soul-rooted programming that became globally synonymous with soulful house.

Founded in 1987 by Alex Lowes (with Dave Gardner), it grew from a small soul caravan-site weekender into the premier global home of soulful house across rooms like the Powerhouse and Connoisseurs Corner. The flagship event ran its final edition in 2015.

Suncébeat

Tisno, Croatia · since 2010 — Soulful, deep and disco-leaning house festival; effectively the Croatian summer continuation of the Southport Weekender ethos.

Launched in 2010 by the Southport Weekender team at The Garden Resort in Tisno, Suncébeat carries the soulful/deep house tradition to the Adriatic and was first to bring artists like Larry Heard and Prosumer to Tisno.

Defected Croatia

Tisno, Croatia · since 2016 — Vocal, soulful and classic house festival from the Defected label, including its disco-driven Glitterbox stage and a private sandy-beach setting.

Defected brought its festival to The Garden Resort in Tisno in 2016, pairing the main Defected house programming with the Glitterbox disco stage. The 2026 edition was announced as its final year, with original 2016 artists returning.

Glitterbox

Ibiza (and global), Spain · since 2014 — Disco and soulful/vocal house party brand from Defected, famed for flamboyant inclusive production, dancers and a glamorous LGBTQ-friendly atmosphere.

Launched by Defected in 2014, Glitterbox built its reputation with long Ibiza residencies (Space, then Hï Ibiza) blending classic disco and soulful house. It now tours globally and anchors a stage at Defected Croatia.

Winter Music Conference / Ultra

Miami, United States · since 1985 (WMC); 1999 (Ultra) — Miami Music Week's industry conference plus the Ultra festival; while Ultra's main stage skews EDM, its Resistance and pool/terrace house stages are major house and techno platforms.

Winter Music Conference launched in 1985 as a dance-music industry gathering; Ultra Music Festival began in 1999 (founded by Russell Faibisch and Alex Omes). Together they make Miami Music Week a global house/techno showcase, with the Resistance arena curating underground house and techno.

DGTL

Amsterdam, Netherlands · since 2013 — Forward-leaning house and techno festival with strong art and sustainability identity; programming spans disco and deep house to techno.

DGTL launched in 2013 in Amsterdam's NDSM Docklands, known for cutting-edge electronic lineups, immersive art and pioneering circular/sustainable festival operations. It has since expanded to editions in cities including Mumbai, Santiago and Barcelona.

We Are FSTVL

Upminster (Essex), London, United Kingdom · since 2013 — Multi-genre electronic festival with strong house and tech-house presence, hosting label arenas including Defected and Cocoon.

Debuted in 2013 at Damyns Hall Aerodrome in Upminster, with multiple stages curated by labels and collectives such as Defected, Crosstown Rebels and Cocoon, spanning house, techno and bass music.

Junction 2

London, United Kingdom · since 2016 — Underground house and techno festival set under the motorway flyovers of Boston Manor Park, curated by LWE.

Founded in 2016 by London Warehouse Events (LWE), Junction 2 takes place at Boston Manor Park and is renowned for its credible, design-led house and techno programming alongside Drumcode and Afterlife showcases.

Outlook

Pula (Fort Punta Christo), Croatia · since 2008 — Soundsystem-culture festival centred on bass music (dub, dubstep, drum & bass, garage) with house represented across its many stages.

Outlook launched in 2008 (first at The Garden, Petrcane), moving to the Austro-Hungarian Fort Punta Christo near Pula in 2010. It is Europe's leading bass-and-soundsystem festival, with its final Pula edition in 2019.

Dimensions

Pula (Fort Punta Christo), Croatia · since 2012 — Deep, leftfield electronic festival spanning deep/soulful house, techno, disco and broken beat; the more house-and-techno-leaning sister of Outlook.

Launched in 2012 as the sister festival to Outlook at Fort Punta Christo, Dimensions earned a reputation for discerning deep house, techno and disco curation in a dramatic fort-and-coast setting; its final Pula edition was 2019.

CRSSD Festival

San Diego, United States · since 2015 — Boutique house and techno festival positioned as a credible alternative to EDM megafestivals, leaning toward deeper house, melodic and indie-dance sounds.

First held in March 2015 at San Diego's Waterfront Park, CRSSD is a twice-yearly two-day festival curated by FNGRS CRSSD around house, techno and melodic/indie electronic music with a deeper, design-forward focus.

After years of 'Defected In The House' residencies on the island (including at Pacha and Booom!), Defected established its long-running headline weekly at Eden in San Antonio from 2018, becoming the island's premier pure-house night.

Black Coffee at Hï Ibiza

Ibiza (Playa d'en Bossa), South Africa / Spain · since 2017 — Long-running Saturday Afro-house and deep house residency by Black Coffee, a defining night of the modern Ibiza house scene.

Grammy-winning South African DJ Black Coffee launched his weekly residency when Hï Ibiza opened in 2017 (on the former Space site), making Afro-house and deep, melodic house a centerpiece of Playa d'en Bossa Saturdays.

Circoloco at DC-10

Ibiza, Spain · since 1999 — Legendary Monday party at DC-10 moving fluidly between raw house and techno; a cornerstone of Ibiza's underground tech-house identity.

Founded in July 1999 by Antonio Carbonaro and Andrea Pelino as a free Monday after-party at DC-10, Circoloco grew from an 80-person terrace gathering into a global underground house/techno institution while keeping its no-frills identity.
